The In's and Out's of Laser Hair Removal

If you’re like most of us, you are over the hassle of shaving, waxing, plucking and even hiding! If so, it’s probably time to consider a more permanent solution to hair removal.

Laser Hair Removal isn’t new on the market. The technology is consistently improving with new systems that offer more reliable results with little to no pain.

Laser Hair Removal works when a beam of highly-concentrated light is emitted to target hair follicles beneath the skin. The energy released as heat from the light inactivates the follicles, significantly reducing the likelihood of hair regrowth.

Frequently asked questions:

Is the treatment painful?

Depending on the coarseness of hair and the area being treated, there may be mild discomfort with the hair removal. After the process is complete however, there is no residual discomfort. Also newer systems on the market with coolant technology (such as our GentleMax Pro) have greatly reduced any potential discomfort.

Do I need to shave the area before my appointment?

We do ask that the area is shaved before treatment. The light beam targets follicles under the skin so there is no need for hair to be present above skin during the procedure.

On average, how many sessions does it take to remove hair entirely?

Hair can only be treated during its active growth phase, meaning multiple sessions will be required to remove all the hair within an area. On average, an area will need to be treated 6-8 times with a 6-week interval between sessions.

Is there a recovery time?

There is no downtime needed after a Laser Hair Removal session.

Is it safe for all skin types?

Our laser is safe for all skin types. It has different settings for all skin types with the ability to treat fairer, finer hair on one end of the spectrum to darker, coarser hair on the other end. In the initial consultation, we will discuss options that will offer you the greatest and best results.

Where can the laser be used?

The laser is safe to use in most areas that grow hair. This includes legs, arms, bikini area, back, neck, fingers, and toes.

What can be expected after treatment?

After each session, you can expect to see the hair in the treated area begin to fall out in the coming weeks. Newer, finer, more sparse hair may potentially grow within the area over the coming weeks that will be treated at the next appointment.
